The International Society for Medical Publishing Professionals (ISMPP) Conference is the most crucial event for the IMC team each year, as many potential clients are unaware of IMC’s existence.
The Business Development team tasked me with creating a background video for the booth to capture attendees’ attention and engage them before they walk by.
Discovery & Ideation
During discussions with stakeholders, I discovered that the loud, chaotic environment of the previous conference made it difficult to attract people to the booth.
Anticipating similar challenges in an even smaller space, I proposed a flashy, fast-paced video with minimal text and real examples of our work to help attendees visualize our capabilities.
Challenge
One of the biggest challenges was condensing the content our stakeholders wanted to include in the video. This required numerous discussions to move away from the traditional corporate approach of text-heavy PowerPoint slides and clichéd infographics.
I collaborated with a writer to distill key ideas into short, impactful phrases and selected relevant work samples from our design catalog.
This streamlined content set the stage for creating the engaging, attention-grabbing video we envisioned.
Results
Breaking the status quo was challenging, but it was worth the effort to convince stakeholders to move away from an animated corporate PPT. The resulting video was more engaging and effectively met their goals.
The Business Development team reported twice as many leads at this conference compared to the previous one.
